Brokenback Vineyard was planted in the mid to late 1970’s by a Rothbury Estate Syndicate led by the late Len Evans AO, OBE. Over the ensuing years the vines have produced premium wines which have been sold under a variety of labels. The current vineyard has 50 hectares under vine, comprising Chardonnay (18.1ha), and Semillon (3.9ha) on the flat gravelled soils and Shiraz (28ha) on the eastern and western-facing slopes of the adjacent rise as well as Verdelho (2.5ha) and Tempranillo (1ha) which were planted in 2009.
