Fine wine, wonderful restaurants, world class golf, picture perfect scenery and an ever changing line up of show stopping concerts puts Cessnock 6th place in a recent TripAdvisor poll of top 10 places to visit in Australia.
Hunter Valley Visitor Centre Coordinator Melissa George is unsurprised at this news as the Centre attracts over 900 visitors each day over the Christmas and New Year period.
" It's great to see Cessnock being recognised for its place as one of the oldest and most diverse wine regions in the world," Melissa said. "TripAdvisor is arguably the world's largest travle site, so to have exposure of this kind to such a wide audience is great for attracting tourists to the area."
Cessnock has had an impressive 2014 with Bruce Springsteen and the Rolling Stones rocking into town. Another major accomplishment for the area was the arrival of the Japan international soccer team who selected Cessnock for their pre competition camp before the Asian Cup commenced. Japan's arrival culminated in an inaugural charity match at Cessnock Sportsground between Samuai Blue and Auckland City.
