Take your seats and get ready for 9 weeks of diverse shows at Kevin Sobels Wines as the inaugural Hunter Valley Summer Theatre roles in to town!
With less than three weeks to go before its Gala Opening, the team behind the Hunter Valley Summer Theatre is working hard to get everything ready on time. At Kevin Sobels Wines, huge stacks of barrels are being moved around to line the intimate venue, as lights, seats, flooring, stage curtains and seating banks arrive on site, ready to be transformed into a working theatre.
Theatre Manager, Kath Perry, is confident everything will be ready in time. 'We have a great team of skilled and experienced people working on this,' she said, 'many of whom have worked extensively with Valley Artists - a local community theatre well known for the high standard of its productions'.
The team will literally build the theatre inside the barrel room on the weekend of 24/25 September, ready for opening night on the 28th.
'This is a hugely exciting project. We can hardly wait to get the first show on and the season started', Kath said. 'Fifty four performances of six different shows over nine weeks is quite a challenge. We are looking forward to welcoming our new audience to our first season.'
